The Art
The art is created when Suzie sees an antique, a piece of wood, a table, gourd, or just about anything else, and imagines what it would look like with a certain image. Then the design process begins, and each stroke is thought out in complete detail. The painstaking process of hand-painting each piece is made especially difficult on odd surfaces, but the finished product is then all that more unique.
"There is no simple way to describe what I paint", says Suzie, "but when I see something that strikes my fancy, then I just have to paint it". Some of the more recent pieces have started out as plain bowling pins, purses, gourds, tables, trays, cutting boards, baskets, saw blades, cabinet doors, books, journals, sap buckets, glass balls, metal stars, slate, rocks, aprons, chairs, and numerous antiques. The list goes on, and there is always a new item on the drawing board...literally!
The detail of each and every piece is what makes it so special. Even art teachers have raved about the accurateness and beauty of her talent, and every show brings in more and more admirers.
